The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) adopted the following amendment to SOLAS regulation II2/10 regarding fire fighters’ communication: “For ships constructed on or after 1 July 2014, a minimum of two twoway portable radiotelephone apparatus for each fire party for firefighter's communication shall be carried on board.
Those twoway portable radiotelephone apparatus shall be of an explosionproof type or intrinsically safe.
Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 shall comply with the requirements of this paragraph not later than the first survey after 1 July 2018."
The JHS431 is a 2 Watt UHF intrinsically safe transceiver designed for onboard communications in ship operations, loading/unloading, and mooring.
The JHS431’s intrinsically safe structure meets ATEX Directive 94/9/EC for use when transporting flammable, dangerous materials by Tanker, LPG carrier, LNG carrier and/or LO carrier, and meets above SOLAS amendment by MSC.
