Designed for quick on-board testing of marine heavy fuel oil (high sulphur and low sulphur fuel oil) and marine gas oil (MGO) for stability and/or compatibility in order to estimate the quality/ condition of the delivered bunker fuel and to carefully consider potential commingling of two different fuels. In addition, the test kit enables density verification of light and heavy fuel oil as well as lubricant and hydraulic oil. The issue of stability and compatibility is especially important with regard to various types of very low sulphur fuel oils (VLSFOs) with different compositional structures. VLSFOs with high paraffinic content tend to be or to become more unstable during storage and /or prolonged sea voyages as a result of temperature and pressure fluctuations as well as oxidization over time. In accordance with the IMO and CIMAC guidelines, marine fuel oils require adequate on-board handling and management practices including segration of fuels from different sources and evaluation of stability and/or compatibilty of different fuels, and this test kit can provide reliable support in assessing the fuel oil quality in relation to storage conditions, storage time and the posibillity of blending. The testing process is extremely easy, takes only 20 minutes and follows ASTM D 4740-04 (2014).
